Berbekal kalimat “Correct Me If I’m Wrong” saya ingin mencoba sedikit beropini. Sekali lagi CMIIW, ya 🙂

Di dunia maya, kita akui bahwa pembajakan melalui media online dan pelanggaran hak cipta adlah hal yang serius karena merupakan tindak pelanggaran hukum. Namun perlukah ada peraturan khusus yang mengatur akan hal itu? Apa yang akan terjadi pada dunia maya jika SOPA/PIPA tetap di sahkan? Dan bagaimana pengaruhnya pada perkembangan internet di Indonesia atau secara umum, di seluruh dunia?

RUU SOPA/PIPA adalah RUU Amerika Serikat yang berencana untuk memberikan hak cipta dan hak untuk menindak langsung orang atau situs yang diduga melanggar hak cipta, dengan cara memblokirnya sehingga tidak akan bisa diakses lagi oleh pengguna serta mengambil tindakan hukum.
Adapun SOPA adalah Stop Online Piracy Act dan PIPA adalah Protec IP Act.

Indonesia merupakan negara ke-4 dalam daftar pengguna internet dunia. Ada ribuan warga Indonesia mengakses internet, membuka berbagai macam situs, seperti Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, WordPress, Google, Wikipedia dan lainnya. Akan sulit dibayangkan bagaimana jika situs diatas di blokir karena melanggar aturan SOPA/PIPA.

Beberapa situs yang menentang SOPA/PIPA, adalah WordPress, Facebook, Google, Twitter, Wikipedia. Beberapa dengan melakukan Full Blackout, menampilkan Protest Ribbon, membuat page, dan juga menutup sementara, beberapa dilakukan sampai 24 Januari 2012 nanti.
Mengapa harus anti SOPA/PIPA? Menurut saya :
1. RUU ini bisa menimbulkan banyak masalah baru, salah satunya akan bertambahnya Hacker
2. Secara otomatis akan membelenggu kebebasan berekspresi
3. Internet akan menjadi wadah yang sangat sempit dengan ketatnya peraturan itu
4. Perusahaan baru sulit muncul karena harus memenuhi standar SOPA/PIPA
5. Banyak blog/situs yang terdeteksi melanggar SOPA/PIPA akan di blokir
6. Perkembangan internet akan menjadi sangat lambat
